ArcTanGent 2026 (Preview)

For more than a decade, ArcTanGent has been the UK’s home for the weird and wonderful. It’s built a loyal following by bringing some of the world’s best math rock, post-rock, progressive metal and genre-defying artists to Fernhill Farm each year and in doing so has created one of Britain’s most unique festivals with a dedicated following who will battle whatever mother nature throws their way.

This year’s event takes place from 19th – 22nd August and is set to be the biggest-selling edition yet. It’s also the last one at Fernhill Farm before the festival moves to a new site in 2027, making this year’s event a special one for those who have been in attendance from day one.

The 2026 headliners are another great example of what makes the festival so special with Chelsea Wolfe bringing her immersive blend of gothic folk, doom and dark rock, while Igorrr‘s gloriously unclassifiable live show promises to be one of the most talked-about performances of the weekend. Primus return with their unmistakable mix of funk, metal and eccentricity, while Saturday closes with one of the festival’s standout exclusives as Cult of Luna reunite with Julie Christmas to perform Mariner in full. A decade after its release, the album remains one of post-metal’s defining records, making this 10th anniversary performance a fitting finale to the weekend.

Beyond the headliners, ArcTanGent once again rewards those willing to arrive early and wander between stages. Italian experimental heavyweights Zu are joined by fellow countrymen Benthos, while Brazil’s Papangu continue to establish themselves as one of progressive rock’s most exciting new names. Manchester outfit Maruja arrive with growing momentum after a breakout couple of years, and Youthmovies make their long-awaited return to the stage. The Irish are represented by Bucket and Worn Out making their ATG debuts alongside the welcome return of Overhead, The Albatross and God Alone.

Elsewhere, Sans Froid return fresh from the release of their new album Back Into The Womb, while Scaler bring their powerful blend of electronics and heavy riffs. As always with ArcTanGent, there’s plenty to discover wherever you end up and some of the weekend’s best moments are likely to come from bands you’ve never heard before.

That’s always been the festival’s biggest strength. It’s a place where you can turn up for one band and leave talking about three others you’ve just discovered.

Only Thursday/ Saturday Day and Evening tickets remaining now so If you’ve never been to ArcTanGent before, this feels like the perfect year to see what it’s all about but be quick or you’ll miss out.
