Birminghams io release new single “Tatterhood”

Birmingham’s io return with “Tatterhood,” a volatile new single that signals a sharpened sense of intent from the long-running alternative post-hardcore outfit. Lifted from their forthcoming fourth album Orbit of Ruin which is due for 21st March 2026, the track draws loose narrative inspiration from the German fairytale of the same name, reshaping its mythic edges into something physical, restless and confrontational.

Orbit of Ruin was recorded at Riot Smith Recordings in Birmingham and finds io pushing decisively into heavier, more volatile territory.

Arriving twenty years after io first formed, Orbit of Ruin feels less like a retrospective and more like a statement of defiance. It captures a band operating at its most direct and dynamic, forging intensity from restraint as much as excess. The album follows Monolith (2008), Materioptikon (2010) and Our Disintegrating Museum (2013), extending a catalogue defined by evolution rather than comfort.

“Tatterhood” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
