Brighton emo three piece PROM release Debut LP ‘From the Wayside’

Brighton’s rising emo and hardcore outfit PROM have unveiled their debut album, From the Wayside, today through Sugar-Free Records.

PROM’s sound is a fast, frenetic blend of emo, hardcore, and grunge, full of the kind of youthful rage and sadness that defined 90s alternative music. Their debut album is a blistering 10-track collection that merges aggressive guitar riffs, pounding drums, and plaintive, yet forceful, vocal performances. Drawing influence from bands like Title Fight, Basement, and Superheaven, the album injects modern production sensibilities into its DIY aesthetic, making for an album that sounds both nostalgic and fresh.

PROM have already cemented themselves as key players in the Brighton scene. With support slots alongside bands like The World Is a Beautiful Place, Free Throw, No Relief, and Saturdays at Your Place, the band’s live reputation is as much a part of their appeal as their recorded output.

From the Wayside was recorded in a self-made studio, with members laying down tracks across two locations—Tidalwave in Brighton for guitars and vocals, and Shaken Oak in Oxfordshire for drums and bass. This hands-on, DIY approach is reflected in the album’s tone, capturing the rawness and immediacy of the band’s live shows, while evoking a sense of timelessness, as if it could have been made anytime between 1991 and today.
