Brighton’s favourite emos Had Sandy release huge single ‘t’other side’

‘t’other side’ is the first stand alone single on the approach to a new sonic direction for Had Sandy, one of higher energy and complexity, but with feet firmly stood in the stomping ground of hardcore. Originally meant to be part of Had Sandy’s debut album, this single stood out to the band as a song that was meant to be released on its own. The drums were recorded alongside the album tracking at Small Pond Studios in Brighton, and the rest was recorded either at lead singer Jude’s home studio, or a rehearsal room. The lyrics have spiritual depth to them, articulating what it means to be alive and to appreciate the life that you have. The slightly unsettling chords pay tribute to Citizen’s “Everybody is going to heaven”, blended with the chaotic feeling of early Trophy Eyes.

Following the release of the debut EP If They All Miss You, and their incredible follow up Desire Paths, Had Sandy have been busy winning over hearts in the Brighton DIY emo & hardcore scenes. They’ve supported bands such as Anxious, The Murderburgers and Other Half, as well as touring with labelmates prom and local legends Give Up. A must see, emotively fuelled band who are insanely tight live, Had Sandy are going from strength to strength, and with a debut LP on the horizon, you’ll want to get on board before they blow up. There’s also a bonus b-side track which is only available on cassette tape, which the band are self releasing and will be available at the t’otherside release show.

Beginning as a basement recorded compilation of old and new, Had Sandy have quickly established themselves within the Brighton emo & hardcore scenes, and with appearances at The Great Escape Festival recently & an upcoming appearance Burn It Down Festival alongside Drug Church, Speed & loads more, they plan to continue to win the hearts of many as they gear up for a debut LP at some point in the not so far future.
