French art-rock masterminds Klone have unleashed the cinematic video for ‘After the Sun’, a highlight from their critically acclaimed tenth album, The Unseen. Released earlier this year via Berlin-based Pelagic Records, the record has been hailed as a bold evolution of the band’s lush, immersive sound.
‘After the Sun’ stands out as a minimalist gem within the album’s expansive soundscapes—a haunting, half-time lament wrapped in loss and reflection. Unlike the sprawling transcendence found on other tracks, this one cuts straight to the soul. Layers of hypnotic guitars build an emotional foundation for Yann Ligner’s commanding vocals, as he delivers a stark reminder of humanity’s fleeting existence in an ever-changing universe.
The video, directed by Julien Metternich and featuring actor-model Tifaine Boudinot, is just as mesmerizing. It paints an evocative picture of love, memory, and the paranormal. Boudinot’s character navigates the dust-choked halls of an abandoned house, grappling with long-buried memories while performing rituals—pendulums, sage, and automatic writing—that clash with modern ways of preserving and honoring the past.
After 25 years in the game, Klone’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, and The Unseen feels like a culmination of their storied career. It’s a milestone that uses introspection and nostalgia to illuminate the present, all while showcasing the band’s masterful ability to reimagine their sound with each release.
