Fresh from their acoustic set on the V.I.Paradise stage at this years 2000 Trees Festival, we caught up with Hamartia to talk about their festival highlights, behind-the-scenes chaos, and what’s coming next for them in 2025.
You’ve just performed at 2000 trees festival. How was it for you guys?
We had the best time! Playing the same festival as Alexisonfire was wild. We played a stripped back acoustic set in the V.I.P camp, and ended up with this massive group of people singing our songs back to us. The vibes were immaculate, one of our favourite shows we’ve ever done.
Was there a particular moment during your set that really stood out to you?
Having people sing our songs back at us, with harmonies! We never imagined we’d hear a choral version of Bloom and Is This It?, but the crowd added all these beautiful layers. It gave us goosebumps.
How does the energy at 2000 Trees compare to other festivals you’ve played?
We’ve only ever played one other acoustic festival set before, and both times were pretty nerve wracking, it’s a totally different kind of vulnerability. But playing in such an intimate setting, surrounded by people who are genuinely there to discover new music, made it feel really special. Seeing familiar faces and making new fans up close like that? Incomparable
Did you get a chance to check out any other bands on the lineup? Any favourites?
SO MANY! So many of our friends were playing this year such as Failstate, Mallavora and Blank Atlas. Seeing Mallavora open up the main stage was such a beautiful moment. Julia Wolf was a stand out for Sophie and Love Rarely who are continuously our faves! The whole weekend was packed, we were constantly running from stage to stage.
What’s one thing fans wouldn’t expect about the behind-the-scenes of your festival day?
Trying to survive heatstroke ahha, if you were there this year you can see why people are calling it 2000 degrees festival. Suncream, water and lots of paid thai!
Are there any new releases, collaborations, or tours coming up that you’re excited about?
We’re currently deep in the writing and recording process for our debut EP, which we’re really excited about. We’ve also got a new single dropping towards the end of the year, and a very special headline show planned in Bristol. Nothing’s officially announced yet, but it’s a very exciting time!
Where would you like to see the band a year from now — festivals, tours, or something totally different?
We’d love to be back at 2000trees, this time on the NEU stage. It’s hands-down our favourite festival, the lineup is always packed with exciting new band. Being part of it on a more official level would genuinely make our year.
