Introducing : Too Piste

We first stumbled across Too Piste at a sweaty little show at Paradiddles Music Cafe in Worcester, they were billed as a drum and bass duo and we expected it to be a full on Drum and Bass affair, it wasn’t!!!! Too Piste are a pair of noisy buggers  that sound like a cross between Cleft and Death From above and we bloody loved it!

We caught up with Karl and Jamie briefly ahead of the release of their debut EP which was recorded at Snug Recording Co in Derby to find out a little bit more about them.

Who are Too Piste?

Too Piste are a band of two reprobates named Jamie Robinson and Karl Banwell, lurking in the Midlands somewhere around Hinckley industrial estates, smashing out dual amped bass riffs and heavy drum rhythms.

When did you form?

Formed upon the glorious fields of Arctangent festival 2016 in a haze of alcohol, we realised that Cleft didn’t need 3 or 4 musicians, and neither did a bunch of other great bands we’ve seen recently. So we decided that after many disbanded projects together, it was time for us to have a crack at it by ourselves. And so Too Piste was formed.

How did you meet?

We have known each other for around 8 years, initially meeting through a mutual friend forming a band. We have continued to play together in different projects for almost our entire friendship, but every one fell apart at some point, leaving us constantly searching for new band mates.

What can we expect from you in 2018?

2018 will see the release of our self-titled EP, hopefully sometime around September/October, which we are super excited for. ‘Hot Muff’ will be available to listen to on SoundCloud and Bandcamp pre-release.

Where can we find out more info about the release and catch you live?

Find us on Facebook to keep updated about the release date. We will also be getting onto every live show we can get our hands on (please do get in touch, we’ll play anywhere) Just forget everything you expect from a drum and bass duo! Our next show is on 9th July at West Street Live in Sheffield
