JAPANESE POST-HARDCORE ICONS ENVY ANNOUNCE EIGHTH ALBUM

Japanese post-hardcore legends envy have announced their forthcoming album, ‘Eunoia’, set for release on 20th September 2024 through Berlin’s Pelagic Records.

Having witnessed so much change over their 32 year career, envy have remained a steadfast and dominant force within the country’s boundary-pushing heavy scene and beyond. With their original roots in thrash-metal and screamo still word proudly on their sleeves, the band have steadily evolved their sound to incorporate euphoric elements of post-rock and shoegaze to spectacular effect.

As the band’s 8th full-length release, ‘Eunoia’ is truly a landmark album; the perfect balance of aggression and elation that sees the band’s revitalised lineup exploring a latent sense of powerlessness in the face of a fractured and increasingly divisive world.

Nobukata Kawai on ‘Beyond the Raindrops’:

“This is one of the first songs we wrote for the album. I found a melodic, down-tuned riff and everything started from there. Even with a demo version recorded, ‘Beyond the Raindrops’ almost didn’t make the album. I found the demo again during the last few days of recording preparations and sent it to Tetsu to see what he thought. If I hadn’t listened to the demo that day, I don’t think this song would’ve been recorded!”
