Lakes announce new EP – The Stitches EP, out 6th September | On tour with Pedro The Lion in UK/EU next week

‘Glock-Rock’ outfit Lakes have turned plenty of heads since emerging from the depths of Watford’s DIY scene and have announced their The Stitches EP, out 6th September via Big Scary Monsters.

Due for release just in time for their upcoming run with Pedro The Lion around the UK/EU, the EP is three songs about the end of the world and learning to love again. Recorded by Tom Hill at The Bookhouse, The Stitches EP features for the first time new members Cat Rowland and Marcus Gooda, as well as a guest appearance from Math-Rock legend Henry Tremain of TTNG.

Thematically it’s a little deeper than the usual anxiety pangs; this time ranging from the end of the world, to comfort eating, but ultimately ‘Stitches’ is about healing and being at peace, and that’s what this band has always been about. As a band we’re always writing, and since Cat and Marcus have joined us, our sound has evolved since the previous record. These three songs are like a bridge between classic Lakes and what’s to come.” says vocalist Roberto Cappellina.

We’re really excited to have UK Math-Rock legend Henry Tremain (TTNG) on the EP. Given how he was clearly the best guitarist in the studio, we thought the best use of his chops would be to play the broom on ‘Raleigh’. He went so hard, he actually broke the broom, which belonged to Matt and his family. Needless to say they were devastated.” he laughs.
