Lakes unveil new single ‘Trouble’

Currently midway through a string of dates supporting emo legends The Get Up Kids, Watford’s math /emo outfit Lakes have unveiled their third single, Trouble, taken from highly anticipated fourth album Slow Fade, dropping 4th July. The record will be released via their newly launched own label Lucky Art in collaboration with UK indie label Big Scary Monsters.

Trouble is a bold, warmth infused track that showcases the dynamic range listeners can expect from Slow Fade. Featuring Ben Littlejohn from US indie-pop stalwarts Hovvdy on Pedal Steel, which effortlessly cuts through the high end to create comforting sonic layers, it’s a track fuelled by playful nostalgia harking back to carefree youth spent on the early stages of the internet.

“This one’s about chatting to your mates on MSN while downloading music from Limewire. Fun fact: The original demo was called ‘Hovvdy’, which is a nod to the chord sequence Matt (Shaw, Drums) had written for it.” says vocalist Roberto Cappellina.
