Bristol alt-rock quartet Peach return with new single “Unhappy People” a restless and tightly coiled track lifted from their forthcoming second album, Only Love. It’s a song that leans into discomfort, pairing muscular guitar lines with a sense of emotional suspension that never quite resolves.
Built on driving rhythms and surging dynamics, “Unhappy People” features Ellie Godwins soaring vocals and showcases the band at the top of their game as the prepare to release their new album. Peach have always excelled at balancing immediacy with unease, and here that tension feels intentional and impossible to ignore.
The band’s growth is audible. Where earlier releases leaned on raw catharsis, “Unhappy People” sounds more controlled, more deliberate in its release of pressure.
Accompanied by a video produced, directed, and edited by Holding Hands With Horses, and filmed by Robert French and Anti Tank Frank, the visual treatment mirrors the song’s underlying disquiet. The track was recorded, engineered, and mixed by Peter Miles at Middle Farm Studios, with additional vocals from Grace Lightman, Soren Bryce, and Angelique Kergosien adding texture without softening the song’s edge.
Long praised for their visceral live shows and unvarnished songwriting, Peach sound here like a band settling into their instincts rather than outgrowing them.
“Unhappy People” is out now on all major streaming platforms.
