Emerging from Belfast, Northern Ireland, SOLOTHURN are staking their claim in the UK and Irish heavy music scene with a sound that’s as massive as it is memorable. Blending crushing, melodic riffs with stoner rock grooves and hook-packed vocals, they’ve drawn comparisons to heavyweights like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Deftones, and Tool—yet their sound stands confidently on its own, raw and unrelenting.

Their latest single, “Waves,” hits like a wrecking ball. Fans of Pantera, Helmet, Earthtone9, Corrosion of Conformity, and Down will feel right at home with its pounding rhythms and ferocious energy. Compared to their debut EP, “Waves” takes a heavier, more direct approach that reflects the band’s growing confidence and evolving style.

The single also introduces Mike Andrews (ex-Annapurna, ex-Toska) as SOLOTHURN’s new lead guitarist. His addition injects fresh firepower into the band, with riffs and solos that push their sound to another level. It’s clear from the first listen: Andrews’ arrival is a game-changer.

SOLOTHURN are the real deal. With “Waves,” they’ve shown they’re ready to climb the ranks of the modern metal scene—louder, heavier, and hungrier than ever. Keep your eyes (and ears) on this band.
