Top 5 acts at ArcTanGent Festival

It’s only a few weeks now until the amazing ArcTanGent festival returns and math/post rock fans from all over the globe reunite like a massive happy family for a weekend of fun in the sun, wait did we say sun? sorry that’s just the wishful thinking coming out, but we can hope, right?

The organisers have once again smashed it with another incredible lineup and these are our top 5 picks for the festival….

1. Giraffes? Giraffes!

We’ve been waiting a stupidly long time to finally see the instrumental math-rock duo from Massachusetts and it’s finally happening!!! This will be Ken and Joe’s first time in the UK and it’s going to be ridiculous. If you don’t know who these guys are then go sort your life out NOW!!!! They’ve just released a new album called “Memory Lame” on Topshelf records  so you can expect to hear cuts from that as well as older fan favourites.

2.  Mouse on the Keys

Who doesn’t like some jazz influenced post rock? And who better to get than Tokyo’s Mouse on the Keys  It’s gonna be a real laid back math-jazz affair and one not to be missed as these guys have consistently proven themselves to be an outstanding and important addition to the genre

3. The Guru Guru

We first came across The Guru Guru last October when they came and played a show for us in Nottingham at JT Soar, we didn’t know much about them before they arrived but by the time they left we’d already fallen madly in love, Describing themselves as a Belgian Psychotic band you can expect weird guitars, pounding drums and some crazy vocals from front man Tom. Check out their debut album Pchew, learn the words then come sing along and enjoy one of Belgiums finest up and coming bands.

4. La Jungle

Another Belgian band make our top 5 and we introduce La Jungle who take rock back to its primitive and primal core but with just two people making a big noise on a guitar, keyboard and drum kit. This will be our first time seeing these guys live and we can’t wait!!!

5. Ilenkus

We’ve known these guys for quite a few years now and they never disappoint live. This will be the Irish Metal/Hardcore acts first time playing ATG and they’re sure to make a big impression. Expect half an hour of intensity similar to that of Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge and Coilguns. The band will follow their perfomance at ArcTanGent with a UK tour with Swedens GodMother who are also playing the festival this year! DO NOT MISS THESE GUYS!!!!

ArcTanGent is hosted on Fernhill Farm, Compton Martin, BS40 6LD from the 16th – 18th August 2018
