Trauma Ray release “Spectre” single / video

Today, Fort Worth’s trauma ray drop their haunting slowcore track “Spectre” blending moody, atmospheric chords with Uri Avila’s ethereal vocals. It’s the second glimpse of their upcoming debut album, Chameleon, set to hit on 25th October via Dais Records.

As one of the standout names in the shoegaze revival, trauma ray have honed a sound that’s equal parts delicate and devastating. Since their 2018 self-titled EP, the Texas five-piece have been tearing up stages across the U.S. with increasingly bold tours, amassing a loyal following along the way. Their signature three-guitar attack is an absolute force, combining raw power with spectral precision, turning every show into a wall of crushing, beautifully distorted sound.

“I think a lot of us have our own ghosts we refuse to part with. This song is supposed to haunt you. To help you internalise and break down your own inability to let go of the things or the people that aren’t good for you. The perspective of the ‘Spectre’ wonders why you won’t push it away after it’s caused so much pain. It wants you to heal. It wants to be left alone. It’s tired and wishes to move on, but you won’t let it. I wrote these lyrics with the hope that listeners struggling with this kind of emotion can find the strength to move forward.”
