Today, San Francisco three-piece Wealthy Women announce their debut album Children, produced by Scott Evans (Neurosis, SUMAC, Autopsy), and share its first single, “37 Days.”
The album is set for release on the 7th of August 2026.
Following their debut single, “Take It Back”, released in April, “37 Days” arrives as an early window into the unflinching world of Children. The track tells the story of Asaad al-Nasasra, a Palestinian Red Crescent paramedic detained by Israeli forces on March 23rd, 2025, after an attack that killed eight of his colleagues. He was held for 37 days, barred from legal counsel, and released on April 29th. The attack on the clearly marked ambulances was later admitted by the Israeli military following international outcry.
Speaking on the “37 Days” and its message, Wealthy Women said:
“It’s difficult to make sense of the suffering caused by the ongoing war in Gaza on a personal level. Some stories of that conflict have become touchpoints which cut through the noise in a way that forces a distant Western observer to put themselves in the place of another person, rather than attempt to grapple with statistics.”
“The story of Hind Rajab is the stuff of nightmares for any parent. Asaad al-Nasasra is still alive, but his 37 day imprisonment after an attack which killed eight of his colleagues is the basis for the song of the same name.”
“The song places the listener in the perspective of the paramedic and taps into the fear and helplessness we would feel in his place. It concludes by imagining the protagonist driven to defiance rather than despair.”
