Following the release of their recent single ‘Reach Out’ – the two piece gear up to release ‘Spotlight’ – an adrenaline shot of pop-punk and emo, with a nostalgic tip of the snapback to the mid-noughties. Recorded at The Ranch in Southampton with Daly George (Creeper, Boston Manor, Burnt Tapes, Darko), the release comes along with a new music video which sees the pair causing chaos in an old cinema. The video is equal parts hilarious as it is aesthetically pleasing, filmed & edited by Shark Sauce Films.
Drummer James Martin on the release – “Spotlight is out now! This was the first song we had finished for the album, written during lockdown, and it perfectly captures what h_ngm_n are about – short, punchy, and driven by hard-hitting drums and a driving rhythm guitar. We’ve been playing this one live for just over a year now, testing where it fits in our set. It’s one of our favourite songs to play and really gets the crowd going. We hope you love it as much as we do — it’s the perfect way to kick off our debut LP!”
Offering up a cathartic exploration of overthinking, overdrinking, and grappling with growing older, their gritty style of emo-pop is personal and universal all at once. Merging the blistering rawness of modern emo with the explosive energy of early 2000’s pop-punk, the result is a seamless blend of nostalgia and modernity, unpicking the harsh realities of life’s complications within irresistibly catchy anthems.
With their debut album slated for Summer 2025, H_ngm_n are poised to deliver a dose of bittersweet catharsis to a world that needs it more than ever.
