Earlier this year, indie favourites Great Grandpa announced their long-awaited album, Patience, Moonbeam, due March 28th via Run For Cover Records. Today, they unveil a new single and video, “Ladybug.” Following the riveting folk odyssey of “Junior” “Kid” and “Doom”.
“Ladybug” is playful and exuberant. Its whimsical lyrics, co-written by the band, include lines like “dressed like Donald Glover on a GQ cover” and “you’re just a ladybug, dressed like Mama Duggar as a 90s mother.” The accompanying video, directed by band member Dylan Hanwright, features footage from their recording sessions and tours.
On the track, the band shares: “Every once in a while, you find yourself tripping on a beautiful day with a best friend, stumbling into the middle of a stranger’s wedding in a park. It’s these small, fleeting moments we seek, ones that can never be bottled. What good luck does the ladybug bring? We scream together for those shared seconds of unadulterated joy. We’ll feel okay when it comes back again, right? Kid Cudi did it first.”
