Hidden Mothers have been gearing up for this moment for a while, and today they finally dropped the big news: their debut album, ‘Erosion / Avulsion’ is set for release on 29th November 2024.
Hailing from Sheffield, the post-black metal/screamo quartet have carved out a unique niche with their intense, emotionally charged sound.
Their electrifying performance at last year’s ArcTanGent festival catapulted them to new heights, leading to milestones like signing with Church Road Records and scoring high-profile slots at Portals Festival, Mangata Festival, and Bastardfest. Despite not releasing new music since their critically acclaimed 2020 debut EP, “Hidden Mothers” they’ve kept fans on the edge of their seats. The anticipation for their debut album has been building, and today, the wait is over as they release the first single, “Defanged.” And damn was the wait worth it; “Defanged” is full of blast beats, driving riffs, and impassioned screaming from Bassist Liam Knowles but is also drenched in atmosphere, haunting melody, and delicate emotion, thanks to Luke Scrivens’ potent lyricism and his Jeff Buckley-esque singing voice.
The band will also return to ArcTanGent next week to play on the Wednesday alongside acts such as LLNN and And So I Watch You From Afar.

“‘Defanged’ looks at the misdirection of anger and blame towards the most vulnerable in society for problems caused by a very privileged few. Feels very pertinent given everything that’s going on in the UK right now. That aside, it feels amazing to have new music out for the first time in almost 4 years, and we hope you all enjoy it. The album is out on November 29th and there will be two more singles between now and then, watch this space!”
