Portugal’s ICOSANDRIA + TREEWAX Announce Split EP Void Intention

Portuguese shoegaze/post-metal outfit ICOSANDRIA and alt-rock trio TREEWAX have revealed plans to release their highly anticipated split EP, Void Intention, on 18th April 2025. The announcement comes alongside the release of ICOSANDRIA’s haunting new single, “Chronophobia” which is now available on all digital streaming platforms.

“Chronophobia” the lead track from the upcoming EP, delves into the anxiety of time slipping away. The band explains, “Chronophobia is a sonic journey addressing the pressure of fleeting time, combining atmospheric, muscular instrumentation with ethereal melodies.” The track serves as a preview of what’s to come on Void Intention, offering listeners a taste of ICOSANDRIA’s signature blend of shoegaze, post-metal, and post-rock.

While both bands come from different corners of the alternative spectrum, Void Intention serves as a powerful convergence of their unique styles. ICOSANDRIA’s ethereal, atmospheric sound—reminiscent of Alcest, Slowdive, and Explosions in the Sky—merges seamlessly with TREEWAX’s gritty, alt-rock-driven energy that draws influence from the likes of Dinosaur Jr., Nirvana, and Weezer. The result is a compelling EP that balances emotional depth with raw intensity, drawing from both the ambient and aggressive sides of alternative music.

With its immersive atmospheres and emotive charge, Void Intention promises to be a striking release for fans of alternative rock, grunge, shoegaze, and post-rock alike. The EP is a testament to the diverse sonic landscapes these two Portuguese bands navigate, exploring the contrasts and connections between their distinct yet complementary sounds.

Void Intention is set for release on 18th April 2025, with “Chronophobia” now streaming on all platforms. Keep an ear out for more details as the release date approaches.
