Grunge/ Shoegaze heavyweights Slow Crush are back with a brand-new single, Cherry—their first offering since signing to Pure Noise Records. Known for their hazy, immersive soundscapes and gut-punching emotion, the band’s latest track delivers a swirling blend of shoegaze serenity and grungy intensity, setting the tone for what’s to come.
Speaking about Cherry, Slow Crush describe it as a “wistful longing for something fresh and new, creating a stormy and effervescent anthology.” The track’s towering waves of distortion and reverb-drenched melodies capture both an ending and a rebirth, with the band adding: “Cherry feels like the perfect first single. A new, fresh start. Shed your skin.”
Fronted by Cheshire-born, Belgium-raised vocalist and bassist Isa Holliday, Slow Crush have been carving their own path in the underground scene, blending the atmospheric haze of shoegaze with the weight of post-hardcore. Joined by Jelle Harde and Frederik Meeuwis, the band has already made serious waves with two critically acclaimed albums—2018’s Aurora and 2021’s Hush—selling tens of thousands of records and touring the globe.
With a new album on the horizon later this year, Cherry marks the beginning of an exciting new era for Slow Crush. And if this track is anything to go by, the next chapter is going to be louder, heavier, and more emotionally charged than ever.
