Mother Vulture announce disgustingly heavy new single ‘Slow Down’, alongside UK and EU co-headline tour dates

Bristol’s feral DIY riff-mongers, Mother Vulture, return with their latest single, “Slow Down” its a blistering, fuzz-drenched eruption of tension and turmoil. Ahead of their February UK/EU co-headline tour with Belgian rockers Ramkot, the band unveils an accompanying music video, setting the stage for what promises to be their most intense era yet.

True to their reputation for raw, high-voltage energy, “Slow Down” channels the crushing weight of anxiety into a frantic, seething composition. The song’s distorted pulse and thick, octave-fuzz riffs lay the groundwork for frontman Georgi Valentine Ivanov’s theatrical, almost possessed vocal performance. “Life gave me lemons, I squeezed them in my eye,” he howls—a nihilistic quip that captures the song’s self-destructive spiral. The lyrics wrestle with inner demons, desperately pleading with a restless mind to just breathe, to ease up, to slow down.

While Mother Vulture’s 2022 debut Mother Knows Best was an electrified, breakneck thrill ride, “Slow Down” suggests an evolution—one that leans into a darker, more brooding intensity without losing the band’s signature reckless abandon. The theatricality remains intact, but there’s a new weight behind it, an added depth that hints at a band pushing beyond their adrenaline-fuelled foundations.

“I wanted to use the lyrics to shine a light on the darker side of emotion, the way we sometimes want to flirt with self-destruction and that temptation to fall from grace,” Ivanov explains. “It’s darker than some of the other stuff we’ve written, but it was fun to explore a new sound and get even heavier, both musically and lyrically—because the world gets too much sometimes, and you think something has to break.”

With Slow Down, Mother Vulture aren’t just flexing their technical prowess—they’re digging deeper, turning their wild, chaotic energy inward. If this track is any indication of what’s to come, their upcoming tour could be the moment they cement their place as one of the UK’s most compelling live acts.
