Emo ensemble Lakes release new single ‘Peach Fuzz’

Watford’s finest indie-emo storytellers Lakes are back, kicking off 2025 with a shimmering new anthem, Peach Fuzz, released via the ever-excellent Big Scary Monsters.

Beneath its dreamy exterior, Peach Fuzz pulses with nostalgia and restless energy, capturing that heady mix of longing and wide-eyed idealism. As frontman Roberto Cappellina and newly recruited vocalist/keyboardist Cat Rowland weave their harmonies together, the track unfurls like a hazy summer memory—wistful yet electric. “I can feel the rush / Crashing through my veins like our very first touch / But it wasn’t just a feeling / A temporary feeling / Life for us it was a dashing bold adventure,” they sing, their voices intertwining in a moment of pure magic.

“It’s about being in your twenties and realizing, almost overnight, that you’ve become a completely different person by the time you hit thirty” Cappellina explains. “I definitely went through a lot of change during that time. To quote Ferris Bueller, ‘Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.’”

Warm, reflective, and packed with Lakes’ signature melodic glow, Peach Fuzz might just be the start of something big for 2025. Watch this space.
