Acclaimed UK metallic hardcore outfit Ithaca have released their final single, the eponymous ‘Ithaca,’ marking the end of their groundbreaking journey.
In their own words, the band explains, “‘Ithaca’ means home, the place you return to when the journey is complete. In this final song, we put this band to rest. Every memory, every tear, every laugh is in here. Thank you for everything. Om namo naryanaya.”
This marks the end of an era for one of the most vital and exciting forces in the UK’s heavy music scene. The band’s final performance will take place at this year’s ArcTanGent festival.
Since their formation, Ithaca have stood apart as one of the most ambitious bands in metallic hardcore. While they shared a passion for the genre, they were frustrated by its lack of boundary-pushing innovation. Instead of playing by the rules, Ithaca have always sought to challenge everything about what a band in this space should look and sound like.
As the band says their final goodbyes with Ithaca and They Fear Us, it’s clear their legacy will resonate within the heavy music community for years to come.
